Texture & Technique

Hello There Crafty Doer! I am ready for the easter festivities so I’m jumping ahead and have created this palm-themed card. I used lots of media and lots of different techniques. Here’s how it went:

I love a good ink smooshing-sesh but wanted to play a little and did it a bit differently. I ink blended my base and spritz water on a piece of plastic packaging scrap. I placed it on top of my ink blending and watched it instantly blend all the colors! I created many layers making sure I dried in between. I repeated this process for the splattering. Here is the list of Distress Oxide I used: Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Bundled Sage, Speckled Egg.

Next, I did some font stamping with Stamperia Create Happiness Cling Stamps and then stenciling using Stampers Anonymous layering stencils. I used the same stencil with Ranger’s Texture Paste in Transparent Gloss and mixed it with leftover Distress Oxide that was on my glass working surface.

I distressed the edges and used the negative to the palm leaves as a stencil to heat emboss with Distress Embossing Dabber and Rangers Heat Embossing Powder in White. The palm leaves are from Cricut which I created using the Draw and Cut feature. That’s how I created the sentiment as well. Before adhering them, I twirled up some white thread for an additional element of dimension.

A few Silver Metallic Pearls from Pinkfresh and a green sequin from my stash completed the card! Ah yes, did you notice my new best friend, the A2 Liner Die from Emily Moore Designs I used as a panel?

So, “Hosanna” was shouted my the crowds in Jerusalem as they put down palm leaves on the grown as a sign of respect and acknowledgement that Jesus Christ was the Savior and Messiah. Jesus rode a donkey into to the city of Jerusalem as prophesized. “Hosanna” literally means, “I beg you to save” “please deliver us”.
