Printable Sentiments | Stencil Butter Card Trio

Hello there crafty doer! For this weekly project I wanted to show you how easy (and how good) my Sentiments Printable is to use on your next project! I also wanted to show you how to quickly whip up a trio of cards using minimal mixed media just in time to get them shipped out for Valentine’s Day. Here’s how it went:

I created these sentiments with you in mind. They are versatile and can be used for anyone and for any occasion. You can even use more than one on the same project like I did. I like having options so, I designed a second set of the same sentiments in a different font. I recommend printing these on a cardstock for a durable and quality look to your sentiment. So speaking of Valentine’s Day, I am in love with The Crafter’s Workshop stencil butters. I may be bias because they are the only stencil butter I own but I felt no need to shop around for more after getting my hands on them. That says a lot about the product right?!

I used TCW in Pink Lemonade, Watermelon and Champagne Gold to simply smear some on my black cardstock. I wanted a quick and easy card so I used my Plastic Palette Knife Set to scrape it on. To tie all of the cards together, I cut out circles from a vellum sheet to use as accents. I adhered the sentiment with Foam Cherry Tape for dimension.

For the second card, I used the negative of the circles I cut out as a stencil! When I get in the craft zone, I tend to use everything in arms reach, this includes the scraps and leftovers. I really liked the texture from the first card so I caked on the stencil butter on the stencil for this card.

A bit of stencil butter bled through the stencil but I scraped it off with a knife before it dried. Note that it did stain the black cardstock and in order to remove it, I had to wet the are a bit. Also, note that I did lift a bit of the cardstock. I do not recommend this but I am sharing what I did so you don’t *insert wink here. I added the rest of the vellum circles to fill the empty areas and popped foam tape on the bottom of the vellum circle under the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment with foam tape as well.

For the final card, I did a ton of splattering and I loved every minute of it! To begin however, I ink smooshed Distress Oxide in Milled Lavender, Picked Raspberry and Kitsch Flamingo for the base of the background. This took a few layers with drying in between. Next, I splattered with every single Distress Oxide and TCW Stencil Butter I’ve used so so far in this entire project. I diluted the stencil butter with water on my glass working surface before splattering. This technique only requires a tiny bit of stencil butter.

The vellum circle for this card I think was perfect. The background reminded me of galaxies and centering the vellum circle made the splatters look like they were coming right at you! I also adhered this sentiment with foam tape. I love the idea of using vellum for this trio of cards because I wasn’t completely obstructing the shimmer and beauty of the stencil butters.

I truly do love these stencil butters and their versatility. Have you tried creating with them? Let me know if you have and what is your favorite way to use them!
